And as the clock struck six,
Candles were lit as a quick fix
For the darkness outside,
Oblivious to the one inside.
A bird and a rabbit,
Had a silly habit.
Through mother’s hands,
They became my friends.
Shadow puppets, that’s all they were,
Consoling a child like an amateur.
Evening cartoons were transformed,
And normal life was put on hold.
Time went on but her ideas did not,
The show was over, silence could reign.
Nothing in the spotlight, not even a dot,
To keep me company and numb my pain.
Dare not express boredom!
They always had it worse.
Dare not demand freedom!
It could have been worse.
Sit down and look
At the empty wall.
Read it like a book,
Until you fall.
Until a bone is thrown,
From a place of crime,
And candles are thrown,
Until next time.
